KT Classes and How To's
This How To comes from Design Team Member Vicki Robertson

Supplies:
  • UTEE (ultra thick embossing powder/clear)
  • Stamps
  • Black Ink
  • Versamark Ink
  • Glue Stick
  • Heat/embossing gun
  • A photo printed on REGULAR printer paper
  • Another piece of REGULAR printer paper the same size as the photo.

Instructions:

Step 1
Create a background on the plain piece of printer paper using your stamps and black ink.

Step 2
Glue your photo to your stamped background paper with the right sides up on both pieces of paper.

Step 3
Take the Versamark ink and cover the entire surface of your photo.

Step 4
Cover the inked surface with the clear UTEE and tap off any excess.

Step 5
Heat the UTEE so it melts as evenly as possible. You will start to see your stamped image show through your photo.

Step 6
Repeat the last step at least 2 more times. I did 3 layers total. This allows the UTEE to cover smoothly and the pattern to show through. After the third coating of UTEE, the photo will look similar to this.

The photo may have a tendency to curl somewhat when you are finished. I put mine inside a file folder (while it was slightly warm) and placed a heavy paperweight on it to help flatten it a little. Good adhesive will also help when you adhere it to your project. You can give it a cracked glass effect to help flatten it by placing it in the freezer for few minutes and then carefully unbending it. The surface will start to crack as you do this. If you don't like it, just reheat the UTEE to fix it. If you do, reink it and add another ink of your choice to give it an entirely different appearance.
